Two Chihuahuas, one human, and a club.
Los Chihuahuas started as a way to answer the questions we kept getting about Romeo and Lorenzo. Today it's a club of Chihuahua owners from 17 countries, and a library of guides written for this one breed.
Romeo
11 years · 5.3 lb · cream apple head
Our senior and the calm one. Blankets, long naps and quiet supervision of everything Lorenzo does. Member #0001.
Lorenzo
2 years · 5.1 lb · fawn apple head
A tiny hurricane. Endless energy, impossible jumps and a serious sock habit. Member #0002.
Belen with Romeo and Lorenzo, 2026.
Belen Salto
Belen started sharing Romeo and Lorenzo's days on TikTok and Instagram, where more than 24,000 people now follow them. The same questions kept coming up in the comments: why does he shake, how much should she eat, is that cough normal. Los Chihuahuas is the long answer.
She writes every guide from two places at once: daily life with a senior and a young Chihuahua at home, and the veterinary literature. She is not a veterinarian, and the site never pretends otherwise. That's exactly why every health article cites its sources and tells you when it's time to call your vet.
How we research and write.
- Sources first. Every health, nutrition and safety article is built on veterinary references and links to them in the text, so you can read the original. The ones we rely on most are below.
- Written for this breed. A 5-pound dog isn't a small Labrador. Doses, portions, emergencies and timelines change, and we write for the Chihuahua specifically.
- US units, US context. Our English guides use pounds, ounces and cups first, and point to US resources like the ASPCA and AKC.
- Never a substitute for your vet. Our guides and tools help you understand what's happening and how urgent it is. Diagnosis and treatment are always your veterinarian's call.
- Honest recommendations. When we recommend a product, it's because it fits a real problem for this breed, and we say what to watch out for. Some links are affiliate links: we may earn a small commission at no cost to you, and it never decides what we recommend.
- We fix mistakes. If something is wrong or outdated, we update it and change the date. Tell us and we'll check.
The sources we rely on most
More than 160 Chihuahuas, one club.
Membership is free and always will be. Owners send in their Chihuahua's photos and story, and each one gets a numbered member card. Many of the dogs you see in our articles, like Kiki's Michelle, 18 years old in Monterrey, or Lucky, adopted from a shelter in Arizona at 12, are club members. Their experience is part of what we write.
